Constipation Frustration: How to Determine Therapy for a Diverse Diagnosis

A common disorder with a heavy socioeconomic burden, constipation has numerous causes and is described differently by different patients. Gastroenterologist Myung S. Ko, MD, offers an efficient method of getting to the underlying problem, breaking the condition into useful categories and discussing tests that range from the basic – but essential – digital rectal exam to advanced methods, such as anorectal manometry to detect pelvic floor dysfunction.
