Insoo Suh, MD
Endocrine surgeon Dr. Insoo Suh specializes in diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. His clinical interests include the application to endocrine surgery of minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy and robotics. He is the first surgeon on the West Coast to perform the new ""scarless"" thyroidectomy technique and has an active clinical program for the procedure.
Suh is an assistant professor in the UCSF Department of Surgery. He holds a B.S. in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University and an M.D. from UCSF, where he completed his surgical residency and an endocrine surgery research fellowship. Before joining the UCSF faculty, he did a fellowship in surgical innovation in the Stanford Biodesign program.
Among other awards, Suh has received UCSF’s Fred H. and Esther E. Nusz Achievement Award and the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons’ Basic Science Research Award. He’s an active associate member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and other national organizations. He’s also an inventor of novel medical innovations and has received grants to research and develop new technologies.
